Volunteering
Have you ever wanted to give back to your community by volunteering? There are several organizations to consider:
- Blood Drive: Highland sponsors a blood drive once every two months at the Highland Police Station. Volunteers can help by processing donors, setting up tables and chairs, and offering refreshments in the canteen. - Community Trails Committee: The Trails Committee is a five-member group that meets once every other month to discuss issues of pedestrian/bike/equestrian trails. For more information contact Larry Mainez at 909-864-6861, ext. 215.
- Fire Department Reserves: Fire Department Reserves assist regular firefighters with duties as assigned. For more information contact the Highland Fire Department at 909-862-3031.
- Highland Improvement Team: The Highland Improvement Team (HIT) meets once a month, typically the third Saturday of each month, with projects such as property cleanup for disabled citizens and seniors, graffiti abatement, weed abatement, and City events. - Historic and Cultural Preservation Board: This is a five-member board that meets once every other month to review issues related to rehabilitation, preservation, and reconstruction of the historic structures and places in the City. For more information contact Ash Syed, Associate Planner, at 909-864-6861, ext. 210.
- Planning Commission: This is a five-member group that meets twice each month to review land use and development issues related to commercial and residential development. For more information contact Camille Goritz, Administrative Assistant III, at 909-864-6861, ext. 214.
- Police Department Citizens Patrol: Citizens Patrol is a large group of men and women that assist the Police Department with traffic control, parking violations, special events, supplemental patrol, etc. For more information contact the Highland Police Department at 909-425-9793.
- Police Department Explorer Scouts: Explorer Scouts are young men and women who assist the Police Department with traffic control, parking violations, special events, supplemental patrol, etc. For more information contact the Highland Police Department at 909-425-9793.
- Police Department Reserves: Reserves are a group of men and women who act in the capacity of patrol deputies and supplement regular duty officers. For more information contact the Highland Police Department at 909-425-9793.
